We've posted a variety of questions below that we have about women in leadership at Vassar. Please respond to any of the questions below, or feel free to suggest a new question in response to this comment.

What do you notice about leadership and women at Vassar?

Were you more involved in high school leadership positions than you are at Vassar?

Do you feel qualified for a leadership position?

Do you think Vassar students are more likely to vote for men than they are for women for leadership positions? Why?

What criteria do you use to judge a candidate’s qualifications in campus elections?

What messages do Vassar administrators and faculty send about women and leadership?

What are the differences in applying for a selected student leader position and running for an elected one? Is one more comfortable?

Have you ever been encouraged to run for a leadership position? Or discouraged? Who communicated this to you (another student, professor, etc)?

Is the VSA’s role more than just planning parties? What roles should it play?

Do you ever feel too intimidated to run? What would make you feel more comfortable?

What role do you think leadership can play in building your resume? Will your resume reflect enough leadership experience when you graduate?
